Understanding modeled data in Horizons
Last updated: July 21, 2025
Modeled data is a way to break a structured dataset down into its constituent parts for ease of discovery and analysis. The data model that C4ADS is using for Horizons is based on the Aleph Follow the Money model, which breaks data down into Things (entities, court cases, documents) and Intervals (relationships, transactions, activity). By loading the data in this format we are enabling analysts using the platform to more easily view the relationship structure of data as well as consolidating data around entities. In this way, when viewing a trade dataset for example, you can see a company profile (thing) and view the various trades listed for this one company (intervals). Previously using raw data you needed to view each individual line of data one-by-one to map out the full scope of trade. Now, you can do it within a single profile page.
